Dear Grant Applicant:
As the chairperson for the Young Texans Against Cancer’s charity selection committee, I am pleased to present you our 2012 grant application. We hope that you will take the time to apply for consideration to become our 2012 beneficiary. Young Texans Against Cancer (YTAC) is a ten-year-old non-profit organization that endeavors to meet the needs of the cancer community by raising funds for local research and support organizations, using our member base to increase awareness of volunteer organizations and helping to educate our community on cancer research. Each year, YTAC charity selection committee researches organizations and the Board of Directors votes for a charity to become our annual beneficiary. To expand this opportunity, we have implemented a grant application system to allow all interested organizations to apply.
In the last four years, annual donations awarded have ranged from $130,000 to $155,000. For 2011, Camp Quality received $6,500, Aidaan.org received $13,000 and M.D. Anderson received $110,500. To date, the Houston chapter of YTAC has donated more than $600,000. Other donation recipients have included The Stehlin Foundation, His Grace Foundation, Texas Children’s Emergency Fund, The Rose, The Amschwand Foundation, CanCare, The Young Survivors Coalition, The Periwinkle Foundation, Sunshine Kids, Baylor College of Medicine, and The Uterine Cancer Research Program at M. D. Anderson—all organizations are very worthy of our donations; and we look forward to expanding our support to additional community cancer organizations or cancer-related projects.
Attached is our application packet for our 2012 beneficiary. Guidelines and necessary information are included on the first page; pages two through six are the application to be completed. After completing the application, please attach all necessary documents and return them to the address listed on the guidelines form any time prior to Friday, October 14, 2011. Incomplete and late applications will not be considered. Donation recipients will be notified by December 16, 2011; and a check presentation and reception will be held in late 2012, which will include YTAC members and the recipient organization’s board members. Thank you for your help in the fight against cancer. If you have any questions or if you know other organizations that should apply for our annual donation, please feel free to contact me at charity-houston@ytac.org.
Sincerely,
Aaron Calvert
