Cancer made its presence known in my life when my Mom was diagnosed in 1998. She endured a difficult 7-year battle with lung cancer and passed away in December of 2006. While she left me with a gaping whole in my heart, she also instilled in me the will to fight this disease; in my mind, there is no greater battle. Statistics indicate the lifetime risk of getting some form of cancer is 1 in 2 for men and 1 in 3 for women. In honor of my Mom, I want to spread hope to those whose lives have been affected, and YTAC inspires me to do just that.
