john athonAs a native born Texan, I have a passion for YTAC because Cancer has affected both my wife Margot and my life. Susan Zanner, Margot’s mother is a previous cancer survivor who is currently battling triple negative breast cancer. My grandfather is fighting lung cancer and is recuperating from his surgery earlier this year. With the newest addition to our family, our newborn baby girl named Grayson, we hope that through the efforts of dedicated individuals, Cancer will eventually become a thing of the past and something my daughter and our families will never have to deal with AGAIN!

LRPARTNERS_bconner_MThumbCancer has touched the hearts of my entire family over the past three years with the loss of both my grandmother  and grandfather to their fights against cancer. Both of them were relatively young and each were a huge part of my life and the centerpiece of our family. One of the many things that I will always remember about both of them is how much they gave back to their community, church, university and causes they were passionate about. As I began to think about ways that I could start giving back I couldn’t think of a better cause to support than the fight against cancer as it will always be near to my heart. Shortly thereafter, I was introduced to YTAC and was truly inspired by what this group of young professionals was able to accomplish in its mission to educating others and funding research to find cures for this lethal disease. I quickly became involved and I am thrilled to be part of such a great group of young people working to support such a meaningful cause.

CRandall_Brooksancer has been unfortunate part of my life for the past 14 years, finally claiming my mom in June of 2013.  When I moved to Houston in 2011, I was looking for a way to help patients, families and doctors in their daily struggle with cancer.  YTAC provides a great opportunity to get involved and I appreciate the vision, commitment and work of organization and the individuals involved.

Cancer made its presence known in my life when my best friend, Jennifer Haynie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare children’s bone cancer. Jen was diagnosed one month before we graduated and passed away in May of 2008 just over a year from her diagnosis. The impact her passing made in my life, and in our community inspired me to get involved in the fight against cancer.

I joined YTAC after college and am in awe of those who dedicate their lives to finding a cure. I am very blessed to be a part of this organization and can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in the years to come.

Growing up I watched my grandmother courageously fight breast cancer and then ovarian cancer—successfully beating them both. More recently, my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He was fortunate to catch his diagnosis early and is cancer-free today, however I have known others that haven’t been as lucky. I joined YTAC because I believe that the organization is an incredible platform to take action in the fight against cancer and make a significant impact in the lives of those affected.

This day and age, everyone is affected by cancer at some point in their life. Personally, I have had a few relatives fight this terrible disease which inspired me to get involved in an organization that would be dedicated to finding a cure. YTAC gave me a way to give back and is a fantastic organization filled with young professionals that are wanting to support both research and education for the cancer community. I am honored to be a part of it and look forward to raising funds for our fantastic beneficiaries.

I watched my mom lose her incredibly tough battle to cancer within 9 months of her diagnosis over this past year. This experience has forced me to fully understand the effects of cancer and how it can drastically impact people’s lives. I became involved with YTAC to have the opportunity to support the fight for a cure against this disease.
